Calcium Filters

Calcium H (396nm) can be seen visual and also imaged. Calcium K (393nm) is an imaging only wavelength. Both offer detail of the low to mid chromosphere but prominences and detailed views of sunspots can also be captured. The H and K Lines are very sensitive to magnetic fields and offer a totally different view of the Sun. At its most simple, Calcium K can be captured easily with just a K Line filter in a White Light system. For more detailed views including prominences, Calcium modules tuned to the H or K lines can be fitted to almost any refractor.
